Mederma stretch mark therapy is a cream that is said to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. Basically it is a topical cream application that you need to apply on your stretch marks twice a day. Apparently, the best results can be obtained if you apply daily in the morning and evening and massage onto your skin in a circular motion.

But does it really work??

 

A recent clinical study showed that if used according to the instructions, approximately 80% of individuals begin to see results within 12 weeks of application. Even if a company claims that it works through clinical studies, it is definitely worthwhile considering customer feedbacks and reviews.

So What Is Mederma Stretch Marks Therapy Anyway?

The active ingredients used to make the cream are mainly plant extracts. It is formulated to help reduce the appearance and smooth the texture of stretch marks. The main active ingredient is Cepalin which is an onion extract. Cepalin helps soothe the skin from irritation and inflammation while also softening scar tissues. There is also a leaf extract known as Centella Asiatica that helps improve wound healing. The company has also added hyaluronic acid which is a hydrating agent that is found in many skin products today. Hyaluronic acid can help improve problems associated with dry or cracking skin.

The company also claims that if you follow instructions, you will begin to see results as early as 4 weeks but gives an average timeframe of 12 weeks to see visible improvement in your stretch marks.

Does it Really Work?

After taking a look at customer reviews, I can say that the results are rather mixed. On average it works on 6/10 people who use it. Let me explain to you below:

• Most customers don’t use it for the full 12 weeks before writing a review. Most will say that there is visible improvement in softness and texture but not so much improvement in the appearance of stretch marks. I would say that most of them who give reviews do it after about 4-5 weeks. Most will also agree that it smells good
• Some customers noticed improvement in just a week, which is quite hard to believe. But having said that, this product seems to have different effectiveness on different skin types.
• It does not work on OLD stretch marks.
• Even for those that use it religiously, stretch marks don’t completely disappear. It is definitely LESS VISIBLE but still there.

In short, I wouldn’t say Mederma Stretch Mark Therapy is trash but it is certainly one of those stretch mark creams that can potentially work. It is no miracle cream either. It is also a rather cheap stretch mark cream compared to the rest. I would still recommend trying this first before moving on to another one.
